SANTA MONICA, CA — Airplanes, pilots, music and aviation enthusiasts will come together at Santa Monica Airport later this month as Santa Monica Flyers hosts its End-of-Summer Hangar Party.
The community aviation gathering is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. inside the Santa Monica Flyers hangar at 3165 Donald Douglas Loop South at Santa Monica Airport.
The event will bring together students, pilots, flight instructors, staff and members of the greater Santa Monica aviation community for an evening centered around flying and the people who make up the local aviation scene.
Santa Monica Flyers plans to provide food along with music and entertainment throughout the evening. Attendees may also bring their own food and beverages.

New Cirrus SR20-G7 to be showcased
One of the highlights of this year’s gathering will be the opportunity to see Santa Monica Flyers’ new Cirrus SR20-G7, which the flight school plans to showcase during the party.
The SR20 is a four-seat, single-engine aircraft from Cirrus Aircraft and is part of a family of aircraft that has become known for combining modern avionics with the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System, or CAPS.
Santa Monica Flyers already uses Cirrus aircraft as part of its training and rental fleet, alongside aircraft including Cessna 172s and SportCruisers. The flight school offers Cirrus transition training for pilots seeking to operate its SR20 aircraft.
The school describes its existing SR20 as a modern aircraft featuring digital avionics and the CAPS safety system. Santa Monica Flyers also offers introductory flights aboard an SR20 as one of several options for people interested in experiencing general aviation.
The addition of the new G7 gives attendees at the August gathering a chance to get a closer look at a newer generation of the aircraft.
Raffle to include flight credit
Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a raffle featuring prizes and flight credit from Santa Monica Flyers.
The flight credit gives the aviation-focused gathering an interactive component for those who may be interested in getting into an aircraft themselves.
Santa Monica Flyers offers introductory flights departing from Santa Monica Airport, with routes typically taking participants toward Malibu or the Hollywood area depending on conditions and the flight selected. Introductory flights pair participants with an instructor and provide an opportunity to experience general aviation firsthand.

Bringing Santa Monica’s aviation community together
The End-of-Summer Hangar Party continues a series of community gatherings hosted by Santa Monica Flyers.
The flight school held a summer party in September 2025 that similarly invited instructors, pilots and people new to aviation into its hangar for food, activities and community socializing. It has also hosted events including a spring barbecue and an aviation simulator open house.
Santa Monica Flyers operates from Santa Monica Airport and provides primary, advanced and specialty flight training. Its fleet includes several types of training aircraft ranging from SportCruisers and Cessna 172s to Cirrus aircraft.
The Aug. 29 gathering is also intended to give students, instructors and other members of the school an opportunity to share their aviation experiences with visitors.
People do not need to be pilots or current flight students to attend. The event is open to the community and there is no admission charge.

Story time:
From 2023-2025, I would buy a commercial plane ticket to fly every Wednesday night. I would fly from Charleston, SC to Westchester, NY was my usual flight path. After a year or so, I was like whoa I should buy a small aircraft puts myself around between my stops. I was usually going to check on local service businesses that I owned and of course to attend an awesome upcoming event. I haven’t gotten around to purchasing an aircraft. However, here a few photos of aircraft’s I looked at for sale along my adventures.
