Witch Paddle Brings Halloween Fun to Redondo Beach, California Waterfront

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — Halloween costumes and paddleboards came together at King Harbor in Redondo Beach as participants gathered for the annual Witch Paddle, a festive event celebrating the Halloween season on the Southern California coast.

Held behind the seaside lagoon at King Harbor from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 17, the event invited participants to dress in Halloween costumes and take to the water on paddleboards.

Now in its seventh year, the Witch Paddle offers a seasonal way for residents and visitors to enjoy Halloween festivities while spending time on the water in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County.

Costumes Take Center Stage

Participants embraced the Halloween spirit with a variety of costumes. Some of the attendees donned traditional black witch outfits while others wore bright costumes and hats. One person came dressed as a pizza slice, adding to the fun and fitting the Halloween theme.

Another guest came dressed in a green mask and a black wig but not in a witch’s hat.

While people came dressed up, wearing a witch costume was not compulsory.

In a video interview, Jamie Lucas discussed the event.

Paddleboard Rentals Available to Participants

Guests did not need to own a paddleboard to participate. Those without their own boards could rent one for the event.

According to the official event website, participation was free, while valet stand-up paddleboard rentals were listed at $46.64 per board.

The format allowed guests to combine a Halloween costume outing with time on the water, creating an opportunity for friends and other participants to celebrate the season together.

A Halloween Celebration on the Water

With favorable weather adding to the festivities, the Witch Paddle combined Halloween costumes with time on the water.

Thanks to a combination of fun costumes, paddling, and mingling, The Witch Paddle made for a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season in Redondo Beach. For those looking for an alternative way to celebrate Halloween, this event offered both the spirit of the season and the chance to have fun on the water.
