The inaugural regularity rally is scheduled for December 18–23, combining a 1,035-kilometer route with school visits and cultural activities.
MARRAKECH, Morocco — Rallye Sirocco is scheduled to hold its inaugural edition December 18–23, 2026, bringing together up to 15 two-person crews for a journey through Morocco that organizers say will combine precision driving, cultural discovery and support for 323 schoolchildren.
The six-day event will start and finish in Marrakech, following a planned 1,035-kilometer loop through the High Atlas, Ouarzazate, the Drâa Valley, M’Hamid El Ghizlane and Aït Ben Haddou.
According to an October 15 press release, the rally is organized on a nonprofit basis by the Association Sportive de l’Automobile Club Marocain (ASACM) and the Association de la Jeunesse Marocaine en France (AJMF), with MG as title partner.
School visits anchor humanitarian program
Organizers say part of each crew’s participation fee will fund school-supply kits for 112 students in M’Hamid El Ghizlane and 211 students in Aït Ben Haddou. Crews are scheduled to visit the schools and meet the children during the rally.
The humanitarian program is led by Aziza Rim, ASACM’s secretary general, with support from Association Joy, One Hand and Moroccan Car Girls, according to the release.
“We do not want to simply pass through these villages,” Rim said in the press release. “We want to stop, sit with the children and show them that the road can also bring good things.”
Precision driving across Morocco
Rallye Sirocco will use a regularity format in which crews follow a roadbook and aim to maintain prescribed average speeds between timing points. Early and late arrivals both incur penalties, making consistency the basis of the competition.
Organizers say a racing license is not required; participants need a Category B driving license and a co-driver.
The itinerary begins with an opening reception and briefing in Marrakech on December 18. Driving legs are scheduled from Marrakech to Ouarzazate on December 19, onward to M’Hamid El Ghizlane on December 20, and to Aït Ben Haddou on December 21. Crews are due to return to Marrakech on December 22 for the closing ceremony, with departures planned for December 23.
Cultural activities outlined in the release include a desert excursion by 4×4, local music and visits along a route connecting mountain passes, palm groves and southern Moroccan communities.
Moroccan technology and international ambitions
The organizing team says it has developed digital tools for the event, including live crew tracking using Teltonika hardware, a dedicated route map, a regularity timing system and online standings. Its stated ambition is to build technology that can also serve future rallies in Morocco.
Rallye Sirocco was co-founded by Mohamed Ettoubaji, Khalil Belfqih, Dounia Christina Smaani and Mohamed Birouaine. Abdelouahed Ettoubaji, president of ASACM, serves as rally director.
The event is limited to 30 participants. Organizers list the participation fee at 24,000 Moroccan dirhams per two-person crew, quoted in the release as approximately €2,400. The advertised package includes an MG ZS Hybrid+ rally car, fuel, accommodations, a desert bivouac, meals, cultural activities and event logistics.
