Brewster, N.Y. — Pegasus Therapeutic Riding hosted its annual gala last night, welcoming more than 500 guests for an evening of generosity, celebration, and impact.

Organized by Candice Sciarrillo with the support of Sophia Rosenbloom, Diane Maudsley, and Jeff Rumpf. The event raised well over $100,000 to support Pegasus’s equine-assisted services.

One of the evening’s standout moments came during the silent auction. A one-hour riding lesson with professional equestrian Peter Lutz sold for an impressive $6,000. The winning bid not only underscored Lutz’s reputation as one of the sport’s premier athletes but also highlighted the deep commitment of attendees to supporting Pegasus’s mission.

Lutz, a Yale graduate and internationally recognized show jumper, has long been a force in the equestrian world. After a decorated junior riding career, including wins at the ASPCA Maclay and USET Talent Search-East, he trained in Switzerland. Later, he co-founded a successful training and sales stable with Mary Manfredi. His students have gone on to claim championships at elite competitions such as the Hampton Classic, Devon, Old Salem Farm, and Wellington International.

PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center

Pegasus itself carries nearly five decades of history. What began in 1975 as a small group of equestrian women testing the therapeutic potential of riding has grown into a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center. Today, Pegasus operates three chapters across Putnam and Fairfield counties. Pegasus Farm in Brewster serves as its 20-acre permanent base. The organization upholds PATH Intl. standards for safety, certification, and instructor training. This ensures participants receive the highest level of care and support.

The funds raised at the gala will go directly toward sustaining and expanding programs that empower individuals with special needs and disabilities through the healing bond between horses and humans.
