Indianapolis, IN — Under sunny skies and in front of a staggering crowd of more than 400,000 fans, the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 delivered its signature mix of tradition, adrenaline, and patriotic pageantry. This year, a familiar face from our community helped kick it all off.
Our very own reader and rising musician Declan proudly marched in the parade band that performed as part of the official pre-race festivities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was a high-energy moment of honor and celebration. Declan joined performers from around the country at one of the largest sporting events. The Indianapolis 500 is watched by millions around the globe.
The morning schedule:
The morning schedule was packed with iconic traditions. Events included the Borg-Warner Trophy March to the Bricks at 8:45 AM. Fans later enjoyed the emotional rendition of “Back Home Again in Indiana” just before the green flag at 12:45 PM. They were treated to a full day of spectacle. But for Declan and the parade performers, the magic was in the music. It set the tone for a day where the roar of engines was matched only by the power of human spirit.
“This was more than a performance — it was a memory that will last a lifetime,” said a proud family member. They watched Declan lead with confidence and pride.
From marching to music to motorsports, the Indy 500 offered a reminder of how local talent and national traditions can beautifully intersect. While drivers battled it out for 200 laps on the asphalt, it was Declan and the band who brought harmony to the heart of racing.
🎉 Go Declan! We’re cheering you on every step of the way.
