Overview:
Authorities in Allegany County have arrested 65-year-old Scot D. Thompson after a violent altercation at a rural hunting cabin left his two brothers dead. Thompson fled the scene in one brother’s vehicle but was located by police the following day. He is now in custody as autopsies for the victims are pending.
Arrest
On November 24, 2025, Scot D. Thompson, 65, of Englewood, Florida, was arrested by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Amity. He is charged with two counts of Murder in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Criminal Use of a Firearm.
What Happened?
Investigators say a physical altercation unfolded at a hunting cabin on Botsford Hollow Road in the Town of Allen. During the confrontation, Scot Thompson allegedly shot and killed his brothers:
- Mark B. Thompson, 70, of Canterbury, Connecticut
- David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida
The reasons for the dispute have not yet been disclosed.
On the Run
Following the fatal shooting, Thompson reportedly left the scene using David Thompson’s vehicle. Law enforcement agencies were alerted and quickly began circulating information about the car.
Capture
The Geneseo Police Department later located the vehicle. Scot Thompson was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
What Now?
As of this report, Thompson is being processed and will be transported to the Allegany County Jail. Autopsies for Mark and David Thompson will be conducted at Strong Memorial Hospital.
