NORTH REDONDO BEACH, Calif.— Presence News attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 5. The event marked the opening of the North Redondo Beach bike and walking lanes. In fact, the Redondo Beach ribbon-cutting for the new bike path drew a crowd. They eagerly awaited access to the lanes.
Community Event Marks Opening of New Path
The ceremony took place at approximately 4 p.m., where officials and community members gathered to celebrate the completion of the lanes. A ribbon was placed between two traffic cones. Afterward, local officials cut it to officially open the path to the public. Notably, the Redondo Beach ribbon-cutting for the new bike path signified a significant milestone for the city.
Design and Length of the Bike and Walking Lanes
The new lanes are designed to separate cyclists and pedestrians. One side of the path is designated for bicyclists and marked with bicycle symbols on the pavement. Meanwhile, the other side is intended for walkers. The pedestrian side includes “stop” markings to help guide foot traffic.
According to information from TrailLink, the route measures about 5.1 miles in length. The path is divided into sections. It is intended to provide a safe space for recreation and transportation for both cyclists and pedestrians. Additionally, the Redondo Beach ribbon- cutting for the new bike path now gives residents access to a longer stretch for their activities.
Maps displayed during the event highlighted the route of the lanes. One map showed the green sections of the completed path. On another map, the start and end points of the route were illustrated. It also showed how the path connects with other nearby lanes.

The mayor of Redondo Beach said the project took significant time to complete. He also noted that members of the community had been waiting for the lanes to open.
Local officials and community representatives attended the ceremony, including a board member from Lawndale and members of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority board. Several speakers delivered prepared remarks before the ribbon was cut. More importantly, the Redondo Beach ribbon-cutting for the new bike path was welcomed by both officials and residents.
Community members gathered in seating areas while cyclists remained with their bikes nearby as they watched the ceremony. Applause followed the ribbon cutting as attendees celebrated the opening of the lanes.

After the ceremony concluded, the mayor, local officials, residents, and cyclists moved onto the newly opened path together.
The opening of the North Redondo Beach bike and walking lanes marks the start of a new shared space. Residents can now safely walk, bike, and exercise within the community.
