Founder Story

How Presence News Got Started

Presence News was founded in 2025 by entrepreneur and publisher Kasdyn Click, whose background in small business marketing and community engagement helped shape the publication’s approach to reporting.

Los Angeles, CA, USA, February 2026: Kasdyn at Sam Newtown annual film fest event presented by Canon.

For more than a decade, Click operated local service businesses and invested heavily in marketing through Google advertising and regional newspapers. Through those experiences, he became familiar with how local businesses rely on media visibility to reach customers and connect with their communities.

Around 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Click stepped away from traditional media consumption after feeling that much of the news environment had become overwhelmingly negative. At the time, he was living on a 20-acre property in the mountains of Litchfield County, Connecticut, where he focused on simplifying daily life and spending more time offline.

Rather than following news through television or social media, Click began gathering information in a more direct way—through conversations with employees, customers, and residents in nearby towns. To stay connected with what was happening locally, he began attending multiple community events each week, listening to business owners, residents, and organizers talk about the developments shaping their communities.

Over the following years, Click expanded his work in publishing and communications. He authored three books and worked with a staff member who began drafting press releases and announcements for his own companies as well as for other organizations hosting events and public announcements.

While reviewing the financials for his businesses, Click noticed that he was spending roughly $24,000 per year on advertising and public notices through traditional outlets. Curious about alternatives, he researched the cost of operating a digital publishing platform and discovered that modern newsroom software could be run for roughly $200 per month.

That realization led to the launch of Presence News in June 2025, an independent digital newsroom designed to cover events, businesses, and community developments through on-site reporting, photography, and video.

Within its first month of operation, Presence News received more than 400,000 views, signaling early audience interest in its community-focused approach to storytelling.

Today, Presence News publishes coverage across business, infrastructure, public policy, technology, and cultural events, with reporters frequently documenting stories directly from conferences, civic meetings, and local gatherings.

The publication reflects Click’s belief that journalism can benefit from being physically present where stories are unfolding—listening to conversations, attending events, and documenting the people and ideas shaping communities.
