THOMPSON, CT

A movement born from local parents’ desire to create change is bringing together more than 30 community organizations in one place for the Parent-Led Community Resource Fair of Northeast Connecticut, happening Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11 AM to 2 PM at TEEG, 12 Thatcher Road, North Grosvenordale, CT.

Organized entirely by graduates of UConn’s People Empowering People (PEP) Program, this grassroots, volunteer-run, and donation-funded event is filling a critical gap in family support access throughout the Quiet Corner.

“We saw a real disconnect between families and the services meant to help them,” said one of the parent organizers. “So we stopped waiting—and started building.”

Thanks to support from TEEG, which provided both its nonprofit umbrella and event space, the fair has grown into one of the region’s most inclusive and family-friendly community events.

A Fair Created by Families, For Families

This event is more than a fair—it’s a community statement. By organizing this without corporate backing or government direction, the parents behind the event are sending a clear message: change starts locally.

“We’re not trying to sell you anything. We just want to give families what they deserve—access, connection, and support.”

Organizers are still accepting donations to help cover event needs like porta-potties, signage, and fun activities for kids.
