NEW YORK CITY — New York Comic Con is getting ready to take over Manhattan next weekend, bringing four days of comics, anime, television, movies, gaming, cosplay, books, and fandom to the Javits Center.
The 2026 convention runs Thursday, October 8, through Sunday, October 11, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Manhattan’s West Side. This year’s event is also a milestone for the convention, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
For longtime attendees, NYCC has become an annual fall tradition. For newcomers, it can be a lot to take in. With celebrity appearances, major panels, artist tables, merchandise, screenings, and thousands of fans expected to fill the convention center, planning ahead can make the experience considerably easier.
NYCC celebrates 20 years
New York Comic Con is marking its 20th anniversary in 2026 with a theme that connects the convention to another well-known part of New York City: Coney Island.

The organizers describe the theme as a partnership between two New York institutions that have brought people together for generations. The anniversary celebration also looks back at the convention’s history, from its beginnings in 2006 to its current place in the city’s annual pop-culture calendar.
The anniversary will also be reflected in merchandise and other experiences throughout the convention.
For fans, however, the appeal of NYCC goes well beyond the anniversary branding. The convention remains a place where people can spend an entire day moving between panels, browsing comics and collectibles, meeting creators, watching previews and seeing elaborate cosplay throughout the Javits Center.
Four days, four different experiences
One of the easiest ways to approach this year’s convention is to look at each day individually.
Thursday, October 8, is being billed as Premiere Thursday, with the convention emphasizing early reveals, screenings, and show-floor exclusives. The official schedule includes programming connected to Marvel television and animation, Crystal Lake, Gundam, Square Enix, and Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
Thursday also offers an opportunity for fans who want to experience the show floor before the weekend crowds become heavier. NYCC says Thursday badge holders will have access to exclusive merchandise, Artist Alley, and other attractions.
A new Thursday afternoon ticket is also available for 2026, allowing attendees to enter beginning at 3 p.m. at a reduced price.
Friday, October 9, shifts the focus toward major film and television programming. NYCC’s official Friday schedule highlights Avatar: Seven Havens, ONE PIECE, Violent Night 2, and programming from Blumhouse.
Friday is also a major day for celebrity and creator appearances, giving fans opportunities to attend panels and explore the convention floor while looking for artists, actors, and other guests.
Saturday, October 10, is expected to be one of the busiest days of the convention. The day features the Crown Championships of Cosplay, along with a featured appearance by Nicolas Cage and other programming.

Saturday tickets are currently sold out, according to NYCC. That means anyone planning to attend should not assume they can simply arrive at the Javits Center and purchase a Saturday badge.
Sunday, October 11, brings the convention to a close with a more family-oriented lineup. The official schedule highlights LL COOL J and Scott Caan for NCIS: NEW YORK, Rick Riordan and Camp Half-Blood programming, and appearances connected to R.L. Stine and Tubi.
From comics to anime and beyond
Despite its name, New York Comic Con has grown into a much broader celebration of popular culture.
Comic-book fans can spend time in Artist Alley, where creators showcase and sell their work. The convention also brings together publishers, retailers, and exhibitors, giving attendees a chance to discover new comics, artwork, collectibles, and other merchandise.

Anime and manga fans will have plenty to explore as well. This year’s programming includes Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and Gundam-related events, among other anime and Japanese pop-culture programming.
Gaming is another part of the convention, with gaming guests and programming included among NYCC’s 2026 offerings.
For readers and aspiring writers, the convention also has a significant literary component. NYCC’s programming extends into books and publishing, making the event relevant to people whose interests go beyond comics and screen entertainment.
Cosplay remains part of the experience
For many visitors, cosplay is one of the most recognizable parts of New York Comic Con.
Fans regularly arrive dressed as characters from comics, movies, television shows, anime, and video games. Cosplay Central will again provide programming and services for attendees, including costume-related assistance.
Thursday has specifically been designated Cosplay Thursday, with Cosplay Central scheduled to operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For people attending with a costume, NYCC also maintains rules concerning cosplay and props. Attendees should review those requirements before arriving rather than discovering restrictions at the entrance.
Planning a visit to the Javits Center

The Javits Center is located at 429 11th Avenue in Manhattan, making transportation an important consideration for anyone attending.
NYCC provides maps, travel information, and a mobile app intended to help visitors navigate the convention. The organizers also provide information about accessibility, hotels, and other visitor resources.
Because the convention can become crowded, first-time attendees may want to look at the schedule before arriving and decide which panels, guests, or experiences are most important to them.
Trying to see everything in one day can be difficult. NYCC has multiple programming areas operating throughout the convention, and popular panels can attract significant crowds.
A little planning can also make it easier to leave room for the unexpected. One of the pleasures of a large convention is discovering an artist, comic, costume or exhibit that was not originally on the day’s itinerary.
Tickets are becoming limited
Anyone who has not purchased a badge should check the official NYCC ticket information before making plans.
As of October 3, NYCC says Friday, Saturday, four-day, and VIP tickets are sold out. Thursday and Sunday tickets remain available, including the new Thursday afternoon option.
Ticket availability can change, so prospective attendees should check the official convention website for the latest information rather than relying on older announcements or social-media posts.
A fall tradition for New York
New York Comic Con has grown into more than a convention for people who collect comics.
For one weekend each fall, the Javits Center becomes a meeting place for readers, artists, cosplayers, writers, actors, gamers, families and fans who may have little else in common except the things they enjoy.
That is particularly fitting for an anniversary year.
Twenty years after its first convention, NYCC is returning to New York City with a celebration that looks back at its history while continuing to expand into new corners of pop culture.
Whether someone is attending for a major television panel, looking for a favorite comic artist, shopping for an exclusive collectible, taking photographs of cosplay, or simply experiencing the atmosphere for the first time, the convention offers plenty to explore.
New York Comic Con 2026 runs October 8–11 at the Javits Center. With the weekend approaching, fans planning to attend should check the official schedule, ticket availability, and convention rules before heading to Manhattan.
