A Project Rooted in Environmental Stewardship
Former Mayor Bill Brand initiated the pond restoration, and current Mayor Jim Light continued the project. The updated pond includes sustainable features like aquatic plants and natural filtration to improve water quality and the surrounding ecosystem.

A Park with History and Purpose
Hopkins Wilderness Park was established in 1977. The park consists of approximately 11 acres of land.

It’s a nice place to get away from the city and enjoy nature. The park features some walking trails, and picnic areas for visitors to gather and enjoy the outdoors.
The site also carries historical significance.
Previously, the land was used as a Nike missile installation from 1956 to 1963, positioned with a clear view over the southern portion of Santa Monica Bay.
