A Festive Start to the Celebration
Crowds lined the streets as participants prepared to march. Many spectators wore green in honor of the holiday. The event began with a performance of the national anthem. As the singer performed, members of the crowd stood quietly and placed their hands over their hearts. At the same time, American Marines stood behind the performer during the opening ceremony.

A performer dressed as a leprechaun brought laughter and smiles to bystanders along the route. He also allowed many spectators to stop and take pictures of him interacting with audience members. This was one of the most delightful things at the parade.
Local Organizations Join the Parade
Community organizations from all over the South Bay participated in the parade by walking or riding along the parade route. Others stood and watched. Many people were taking pictures or video recordings of the various organizations participating. Additionally, they cheered on the different organizations as they went by.
Among the organizations participating was Friends of the Hermosa Beach Library, whose members walked in the parade as part of the community celebration. Participants rode their bicycles down the parade route with Bike Hermosa. They also waved hello to those in attendance.

City Leaders and Festive Vehicles
There were city council members who also participated in this year’s city’s annual parade by riding in decorated autos.
Some wore festive hats and orange beards while waving to spectators gathered along the street. The vehicles were decorated with St. Patrick’s Day–themed displays, including leprechauns and green decorations.
Candy, Trinkets, and Family Fun
During the course of the drive through the route, people in the parade were throwing green necklaces, gold trinkets, candy, and other small items to the people lining up on both sides of the street. Many kids and families tried to grab as many items as they could get as they were being thrown out of the vehicles. This added excitement to the celebration.
Many vehicles were also decorated creatively. One vehicle was decorated on the outside with a rainbow, which is one of the symbols of St. Patrick’s Day.
Another participant, a local real estate group known as “We Sell The Beach,” appeared in the parade with promotional displays. Their vehicle moved through the route.
A Celebration of Community
Throughout the event, the parade served as an opportunity for residents to gather and celebrate together. Onlookers displayed celebrations in several forms, from waving, recording, and watching as participants passed by going down the parade route.
