Parade Brings Community Together
The parade, a staple of Jackson’s local event calendar, featured a variety of floats, marching groups, and community participants traveling through the streets. Spectators lined the route. Many attendees were dressed in green at the Parade because most people were following the St. Patrick’s Day Theme. As a result, it really added to the festive feel of the whole day.
Festival Offers Activities for All Ages
The festival also had many other things going on for people of all ages. Many vendors had set up booths throughout the area selling food, items, and local goods. There were also designated areas that offered games and activities for kids. In addition to the overall parade, a separate pet parade took place. Here, participants showcased their pets in costume.
Local Organizations Take Part
Many different participating organizations were present in the parade. Krewe of Froth as well as other participating organizations were represented as the parade processed down the route.

There were several floats in the parade, representing local businesses and organizations. This provided a good combination of the community at large. Among those represented were Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties and MS Neurological Care Clinic. Both of these participated as part of the broader lineup of local entries.

Attendees Share Their Experiences
Cherry Jones, a Jackson resident who has attended the St. Paddy’s Day Parade on and off for several years, shared her perspective on what makes the event stand out. She pointed to the scheduling of the parade as one factor that contributes to its continued growth.
“One of the reasons that they kind of schedule it not on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend is so that more people can come join it and the parade can get bigger,” Jones said. “I like that about it.”
Jones also noted a specific aspect of the parade she was looking forward to seeing. She highlighted the role of local creativity in the event.
“There’s a local crew,” she said. “They craft their own clothes.”
Her comments reflect a broader theme seen throughout the parade, where much of the event’s character comes from contributions made by local participants. The community was represented in several ways. For example: custom floats, fit-for-float costumes, and parade participants. These included individuals and groups who represented all parts of the community.
Along with being there for fun, the parade was also an opportunity for participants who provided public service. They interacted with the public in various ways.
Community Outreach at the Event
Among those present were Sela Boyd and her sister, Anna Boyd. The two spent time speaking with people at the event and sharing their Christian faith.
“We’re out here to share the Gospel,” Sela Boyd said. “So our heart is that everyone would come to know Christ [sic].”
Anna Boyd also shared her perspective on their presence at the parade and their beliefs.
“We’re Christians who believe in Jesus,” she said. “We have a relationship with God, and we want others to know him too. We’re each in the same form one day. I believe that everyone here has a soul that’s searching for more.”
Their participation represented one of the many ways individuals and groups used the event as an opportunity to interact with others in a public setting.
