Overview:
Azure Coffee Roasters hosted a specialty pop-up outside Bread and Espresso in Redondo Beach, featuring rare Guatemala and Peru Gesha coffees during a Lunar New Year-themed weekend event. The gathering drew local coffee enthusiasts eager to sample premium varietals and celebrate community through artisanal brewing and cultural tradition.
A Weekend Pop-Up Outside Bread and Espresso
Azure Coffee Roasters organized a specialty pop-up café at the front of Bread and Espresso on Saturday, February 28th, and Sunday, March 1st. Coffee Roasters welcomed coffee lovers from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., giving them a unique opportunity to taste the coffee. Additionally, the Azure Coffee Roasters pop-up Redondo Beach attracted many local enthusiasts interested in specialty brews.
The pop-up café, despite the cold morning weather, attracted coffee aficionados from the community. In fact, many had heard about the Azure Coffee Roasters pop-up Redondo Beach and hoped to sample something new.
A Lunar New Year Atmosphere
The outdoor setting had a theme, and it celebrated the joy of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration, and this gave the simple brewing station setup a party look. The colors red and gold complemented the scent of the fresh coffee beans brought by the morning wind.
The outdoor setting was a mix of learning about other cultures and showing off your skills.
A Carefully Crafted Brewing Process
Azure Coffee Roasters displayed an intricate technique for brewing coffee through the use of a deep flower-style coffee dripper. The coffee grounds are fresh and are brewed through multiple filters, with hot water being poured over the coffee grounds.
This process shows that the coffee roaster cares about clarity, smell, and balance.
Rare Gesha Coffees Take Center Stage
The highlight of the weekend event was the serving of two top-grade varietals of Gesha coffee:
Guatemala Gesha

The Guatemala Gesha had floral undertones that reminded me of rose water and sweet jasmine tea, with a hint of orange. The cup was naturally sweet — surprisingly so — even without sugar. Its smooth, delicate profile made it approachable while still complex. Notably, both varietals were offered at the Azure Coffee Roasters pop-up Redondo Beach, which highlighted specialty selections for local guests.
Peru Gesha

The Peru Gesha had brighter acidity and tasted like jasmine tea, apple, dried orange peel, hops, and lemon balm. The Peruvian coffee had a stronger aroma and sour taste than the Guatemalan coffee varietal.
The coffee samples had tea-like characteristics, which are hallmarks of the elegance of the Gesha coffee beans.
Azure Coffee Roasters sells the coffee samples for $8. This allows customers to taste premium coffee beans that most coffeehouses do not typically carry.
A Community Moment Over Coffee
Presence News contributor Maria Cornejo attended the pop-up and observed guests discussing flavor notes, comparing preferences, and even sampling a blend the baristas created by mixing the two Gesha varieties at the end of the event — a combination attendees described as unexpectedly harmonious.
Aside from the coffee, the pop-up also reminded people that small community events, which feature craft and culture, can bring people together. As a result, the Azure Coffee Roasters pop-up Redondo Beach helped foster connections among local residents.
As Redondo Beach continues to experience growth in specialty food and beverage options, the event also shows that there is a growing appreciation for artisanal preparation and flavor profiles from around the world.
