Fans of Aer may finally have something new to look forward to this summer.
The band’s members, Carter Schultz and David von Mering, recently shared on the group’s official Facebook page that they are working on new music, marking what will become the group’s first album project in more than ten years. (Facebook)
Originally formed in Wayland, Massachusetts in 2010, Aer built a loyal following by blending reggae, hip-hop, indie rock, acoustic pop, and laid-back summer energy into a sound that became especially popular with college audiences and festival crowds during the early 2010s.
Their breakout album, The Bright Side (2012), helped launch the duo into national attention and reached No. 1 on the iTunes Albums Chart. Tracks like “Floats My Boat” and “Like the Way” became defining songs for many fans of the era.
The group followed that success with their self-titled album Aer in 2014, which peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200, before releasing One Of A Kind in 2015 — their most recent studio album to date.
Over the years, Aer’s music has continued to maintain a strong online presence long after the band stepped away from releasing major projects. Their YouTube channel has accumulated more than 50 million views, with many listeners still describing the duo’s catalog as “summer soundtrack” music thanks to its upbeat and relaxed style.
The announcement of new material has already sparked excitement among longtime listeners online, especially those who grew up during the height of Aer’s popularity in the early-to-mid 2010s.
As of publication, no official album title or release date has been announced by the band.
