Community members gathered Monday morning outside Lawndale City Hall for the city’s Memorial Day ceremony honoring fallen service members. Maxine Waters United States Representative speaks at the Lawndale, California, Memorial Day ceremony.

Residents, veterans, military representatives, and local leaders attended the City of Lawndale’s Memorial Day ceremony on May 25th. The event brought together residents, veterans, military representatives, and local leaders in remembrance of fallen service members.

Community Gathers in Remembrance

Many attendees wore patriotic colors in observance of Memorial Day. Organizers provided breakfast for attendees before the ceremony began.

During the opening ceremony, speakers read the names of service members who lost their lives while serving the country. Attendees watched the raising of the American flag and joined in a prayer honoring fallen service members.

Military Tributes Mark the Ceremony

The Naval JROTC performed a ceremonial gun salute honoring fallen service members. Attendees stood silently during the salute.

The ceremony also featured memorial displays and informational materials for attendees.

Local representatives attended the ceremony to honor veterans and fallen service members. Speakers also thanked veterans and active-duty military personnel for their service.

Local Leaders and Veterans Recognized

Col. Andrew C. Dermanoski, commander of Space Base Delta 3, presented commemorative coins on behalf of the City of Lawndale and recognized local leaders during the ceremony.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the mayor of Lawndale, military representatives, and community leaders posed for photos during the event.

Trumpeter Jason Hemmens performed reflective musical pieces during the ceremony. Council member Pat Kearney thanked the organizers, volunteers, and residents who helped make the event possible.

Moment of Silence and Reflection

Attendees gathered at the memorial wall for a moment of silence honoring those commemorated there. Many also viewed wreaths and American flags placed around the memorial.
