Actor Titus Thorpe spoke with Presence News on camera during the 2026 National Social Media Awards, sharing part of the journey that has taken him from a small-town upbringing in Pennsylvania to pursuing a career in Hollywood.
During the event, Thorpe discussed his path into the entertainment industry while connecting with attendees celebrating achievements across social media, business, and entertainment. Readers can watch the full Presence News interview with Titus Thorpe in the video above where he mentions thanking his manager Jamie Leroy.
Born on October 25, 1966, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Titus Clay Thorpe was raised alongside four brothers by his parents, Helen Ruth Thorpe and Johnnie William Thorpe, who both worked in manufacturing after relocating north from Oxford, North Carolina.
Athletics played an important role early in Thorpe’s life. After graduating from high school, his basketball abilities earned him a scholarship to Columbia Greene Community College in Hudson, New York. There he became an All-Conference basketball player while earning an Associate in Applied Science degree in General Studies.
Thorpe later continued both his education and basketball career at Virginia Union University, where he majored in Journalism and became a distinguished member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
With a young family already depending on him, Thorpe began looking toward opportunities that would allow him to build a long-term career. Acting became that goal.
He returned to the Northeast and completed an acting program at Image International Modeling and Acting Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Soon afterward, he began working with Extra Mile in New York, gaining valuable on-set experience as a background performer on productions including Law & Order, portraying attorneys, detectives, doctors, police officers, and numerous other professional roles.
Believing Hollywood would offer greater opportunities, Thorpe relocated to Los Angeles. Like many aspiring actors, the move brought financial and personal challenges as he balanced temporary jobs with auditions and industry networking.
Those networking efforts eventually led him to meet entertainment publicist and manager Marie Lemelle, founder and CEO of Platinum Star Media Group. Through that professional relationship, Thorpe connected with filmmaker Marc Cayce, who cast him in several principal roles.
Among the projects Thorpe highlights as milestones in his career are:
- A Day of Trouble
- Flint Tale
- Sasha Lanes
- Black Skin
Reflecting on his career, Thorpe credits persistence for helping him overcome more than a decade of challenges common to many working actors.
“After 12 years of the struggle in which every actor must go through, I’m finally here and making a name for myself.”
His story serves as a reminder that careers in entertainment are often built through years of dedication, continuous learning, and relationship-building rather than overnight success.
