Torrance Historical Society Showcases Soccer Legacy Ahead of 2026 World Cup

The Torrance Historical Society soccer exhibit showcases the city’s soccer legacy. They are highlighting it ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

To celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup (2026), the Torrance Historical Society will host an exhibit that highlights the global history and cultural significance of soccer. The exhibit will be open daily from April 12 to August 31, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A Local Legacy in American Soccer

The fact that Torrance is home to the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) gives the city a special place in American soccer history. This makes Torrance a fitting location for the exhibition.

The exhibition is being held in Torrance due to its significance as the birthplace of AYSO and its role in American soccer history. Many of the items featured in this exhibit have been provided by local collectors, including Miguel Salazar and Julie Randall of Street Faire Antiques. These items contain memorabilia from the past 28 years of soccer, from 1998 to 2026.

Highlighting the Rise of Women’s Soccer

Special attention is given to women’s soccer, with memorabilia highlighting key achievements and milestones from the Women’s World Cup. Additional displays highlight AYSO’s grassroots development and its role in growing soccer in communities across America.
