The Treasure Chest of Mystic
What began with the purchase of a pack of trading cards at Target has turned into a potentially life-changing discovery for the two brothers of martellcardco
– Lucas, 23, and Trevor, 18.
A One-of-a-Kind Tom Brady Collectible Draws National Auction Interest
After pulling the card, the brothers visited The Treasure Chest of Mystic, a newly opened sports card and collectibles store located inside Olde Mistick Village, seeking advice on a card they believed could be valuable.
Their discovery was an extraordinarily rare 2026 Bowman Chrome Garbage Pail Kids Tom Brady 1-of-1 Superfractor, a one-of-a-kind collectible featuring the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
Recognizing the card’s significance, Carmine Lorusso and Michael Carini stepped in to help the brothers, who’d just begun card collecting a month earlier, navigate the process of bringing their discovery to the national collectibles market.
Both established business owners, Lorusso (Crest and Compass) and Carini (Blackbeard inc.) recently joined forces to open The Treasure Chest of Mystic, combining their business experience with their shared passion for sports cards and collectibles.
Through their efforts, the brothers were connected with Fanatics Collect, which played an instrumental role in arranging a major auction opportunity.
The card is currently in the possession of Fanatics Collect and is expected to be a featured attraction in an upcoming auction, with preliminary estimates suggesting a potential sale price in the six-figure range.
