Friday: 25th Anniversary of September 11
September 11 marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, so the commemorative events are the main part of the day in this city.
The annual commemoration at the National September 11 Memorial is taking place at the World Trade Center site. The ceremony includes the reading of victims’ names and moments of silence marking key moments from the attacks. This year’s ceremony also includes a new moment of silence honoring people who later died from illnesses or injuries related to the attacks. The ceremony itself is closed to the general public, but the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is providing a livestream.
Later Friday, the Tribute in Light will illuminate the Lower Manhattan skyline. The annual public art installation runs from dusk into the early morning hours and is visible from a wide area around the city.

New York Fashion Week Continues
The public can also enjoy the events of NYFW through NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center, where on-site broadcasts are taking place from September 10-15 on a giant screen at The Rink. Some of the famous brands participating in the event are Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Coach, Carolina Herrera, and Christian Siriano.

Saturday: U.S. Open Women’s Final and JAPAN Fes
Tennis fans will have a major event to follow Saturday when the U.S. Open women’s singles championship takes place at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens at 4 pm. The U.S. Open Finals Fan Fest also begins at 11 a.m., offering additional activities for fans throughout championship weekend.
Saturday also brings JAPAN Fes to Chelsea, with the Japanese food festival scheduled for September 12 and 13. Sunday features the men’s singles championship match at the 2026 U.S. Open. The men’s singles championship is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium, while the Finals Fan Fest begins at 11 a.m.
The Ferragosto Festival returns to Little Italy in the Bronx this coming Sunday, September 13. The festival celebrates Italian-American culture through food, live entertainment and community activities.
JAPAN Fes continues Sunday, giving visitors another opportunity to experience the festival.
Restaurant Specials and Weekend Dining
New York City restaurants are also offering a range of special dinners, brunches and weekend promotions.
Kubeh in Manhattan is offering a special four-course Rosh Hashanah prix fixe dinner on September 11 and 12. The restaurant’s listing says the menu includes holiday dishes and ingredients such as challah, apples and honey, lamb shank, and other traditional selections. The latest listed price is $98 per person. Reservations are recommended.
For Sunday brunch, Out of Ordinary at 48 West 21st Street is hosting its “Sunday Service: 90s vs. 2000s” event from 2 to 10 p.m. The $55 prix fixe brunch includes an entrée and two hours of unlimited mimosas and bellinis, followed by a day-party atmosphere. The event is listed as 21+.
Paris Bar is also offering guests an opportunity to watch the U.S. Open men’s final on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m., providing another option for those who want to enjoy the match while dining.
