Protesters have gathered outside the Planned Parenthood clinic on Hawthorne Boulevard in South Bay. They oppose what they call the “Abortion Pill Reversal,” a procedure that remains widely disputed among medical professionals.
The clinic, located upstairs near the Hawthorne Blvd sign, offers reproductive health services. This includes access to the FDA-approved abortion pill regimen. Some anti-abortion activists claim that the effects of the first pill, mifepristone, can be reversed with doses of the hormone progesterone. However, medical organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, have called this claim unproven and potentially unsafe.

Demonstrators outside the clinic say they are encouraging women to avoid what they describe as a “dangerous and misleading” treatment. One protester held a sign that read “Choose Love,” featuring photos of babies of different backgrounds. Others carried messages urging drivers to honk in support of ending the use of the so-called reversal pill.
A woman participating in the demonstration said that while some passersby have shouted or made rude gestures, many honk to show support. “We’re here to help women,” she said. “We want to raise awareness about what’s really happening.”
The protests began earlier this month after rumors spread online about an uptick in local use of “Abortion Pill Reversal” services. As of now, there is no verified data showing an increase in such treatments at this location.
