Overview:
Saturday evening saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays to claim the 2025 World Series Championships. It was a night of records set in the world of Major League Baseball. Celebrations erupted across Los Angeles and today a Dodger’s parade in the city of angels.
And that’s the Game Folks!
The 2025 World Series is in the books! This past Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the Toronto Blue Jays in game 7 of a hard-fought battle to the very end.
It was a night of record-setting that led to both celebration and chaos on the streets of Los Angeles. Nonetheless, the commemoration of the Dodgers’ win continues today with a parade.
The excitement from Saturday’s game is still resonating in the bones of baseball fans everywhere.
Late Comeback
Just two outs away from defeat, the Dodgers made a late comeback in the ninth inning. Down 4-3, the Dodgers tied the game, putting it into extra innings.
At the top of the 11th inning, it was still tied 4-4. However, a home run by the Dodgers put them ahead. With the Blue Jays unable to score at the bottom of the 11th, the Dodgers cemented their victory.
Records Broken and Set
Consecutive World Series Drought Evaporated
With their win Saturday, the Dodgers became the first MLB team in 25 years to win consecutive World Series. The last to win back-to-back World Series championships was the New York Yankees with their 1998-1999-2000 wins.
Three-in-One Pitcher Throws a Complete Game
Dodgers’ pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the 2025 World Series MVP, became the first pitcher in 24 years to win three games in a single World Series.
Yamamoto also became the first pitcher since 2001 to have consecutive complete games in the postseason and the first since 2015 to throw a complete game.
Most Innings Caught meets Game-Winning Home Run
The 2025 World Series saw Dodgers catcher Will Smith break the record for the most innings caught in a World Series. Smith’s 73 innings surpassed Lou Criger’s 71 in 1903.
In addition, Smith hit the first extra-inning home run in a winner-take-all World Series game with his game-winning home run in the 11th inning of Game 7.
First Home Run of its Kind
Miguel Rojas, who plays shortstop for the Dodgers, became the first MLB player to hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of a winner-take-all Game 7.
Donuts, Fireworks, and Arrests
Fireworks lit up the skies over Los Angeles late Saturday as Dodgers fans expressed their joy and elation. The spectacle wasn’t just above, though, as drivers were doing donuts and car stunts all across the streets of L.A.
Although it was a celebration, Saturday’s after-game festivities were not free of conflict. According to a report by ABC7 Los Angeles, seven arrests were made for crimes ranging from possession of fireworks to riding a bicycle into a police horse.
A Parade, For Me? You Shouldn’t Have!
Despite the minor chaos caused by fans’ celebrations, a Dodgers parade is taking place in Los Angeles today at 11 a.m. PT.
After the parade, a ticketed celebration inside Dodger Stadium (which is already sold out) will take place.
