Japanology Fair Brings Japanese Culture to Torrance Community

Torrance, Cal.- Held in Torrance, California, on June 6 and 7, 2026, the Japanology Fair and Kimono Con event featured a range of products from different vendors. It also provided the opportunity for attendees to experience and immerse themselves in various aspects of Japanese culture. They did this through cultural activities, food samples, classes, and performances, as well as live entertainment.

When attendees entered the fair, they were given a ticket allowing them to enjoy free Tully’s green tea or gummy bears while they browsed. Meanwhile, attendees experienced many different aspects of Japanese culture through exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities throughout the duration of the fair.

Food and Vendor Experiences

Several vendors showcased food, drinks, and handmade products. Presence News took the opportunity to sample Dream of Japan’s peach tea. The product had a delicate flavor of peach and did not have an overwhelming sweetness.

In addition, Totonoeru Cha Tea had numerous different varieties of their homemade teas on display. Their green tea, which was provided as fresh and unsweetened, was also available for sampling.

Hoshi’s Kitchen showcased pastries made from scratch. Among the offerings were a chocolate brownie and a strawberry cookie, both of which had a balanced sweetness.

Hands On Cultural Activities

An interactive experience at the fair was a Hydrangea Nerikiri Decorating class. In this class, participants were shown how to make and decorate their own traditional Japanese sweet. For only $35, participants could create their own decorative flower-shaped, edible delicacies. At the same time, they could learn more about the traditional Japanese culinary art of nerikiri (decorating handmade sweets). In addition to getting to sample their finished works of art, each participant took home one of their creations after class.

Celebrating Japanese Culture

Attendees at this event got to enjoy many aspects of Japanese culture through food preparation, visual arts, educational activities, and a variety of other activities. The event brought together vendors, educators, artists, and attendees in a space designed to promote learning and cultural exchange.

The event provided attendees with opportunities to learn about and appreciate Japanese culture through food, art, education, and entertainment.
