VENTURA, Calif. — Legendary professional skateboarder Steve Caballero appeared during the Jackalope skateboarding festivities in Ventura, California recently, taking part in a meet and greet with fans before later skating under the lights during the Saturday night vert ramp sessions.

Crowds gathered around the vert ramp throughout the evening as Caballero joined a lineup of well-known skateboarders including Bob Burnquist, Bryce Wettstein, and Elliot Sloan during one of the event’s featured nighttime showcases.

One of the standout moments of the evening came as Caballero and Wettstein shared the vert ramp together during a doubles-style session in front of a packed crowd. Fans lined the barricades surrounding the course as skateboarders continued performing late into the night during the large-scale block party atmosphere in Ventura.

Caballero is widely recognized as one of the most influential skateboarders in the history of vert skating. Rising to prominence during the 1980s, he became a major figure in skateboarding through his involvement with the iconic Bones Brigade team under Powell Peralta. Over the years, Caballero became known for his technical ability, longevity in the sport, and signature tricks that helped shape modern skateboarding culture.

His influence expanded far beyond competitions, with appearances in skateboarding films, video games, and collaborations with major brands including Vans. Even decades after first becoming a professional skateboarder, Caballero continues appearing at skateboarding events around the country and remains active on the ramp, drawing strong reactions from longtime fans and younger generations alike.

The Ventura Jackalope events brought together multiple generations of skateboarders for live demonstrations, meet and greets, and nighttime vert ramp sessions throughout the weekend.
