NEW YORK, N.Y. — As August draws to a close, New York City is preparing for another busy summer weekend. Changing weather, outdoor activities and live music give residents and visitors plenty of options from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30.

For those looking to pair their weekend plans with a special meal, Traveler, an Asian-inspired bistro at 56 East 41st Street, New York, NY 10017, in Midtown Manhattan, is offering its own Summer Restaurant Week 2026 experience on Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival will bring free live performances to Manhattan.

Weekend Weather Forecast

New York City could see unsettled weather on Friday before conditions improve for the weekend.

Friday, August 28, is expected to be humid with a mix of clouds and sunshine. An afternoon thunderstorm is possible, with temperatures reaching the low 80s. The forecast calls for an overnight low in the upper 60s.

This Saturday, August 29, weather is anticipated to be mostly sunny with temperatures reaching almost 81 degrees.

On Sunday, August 30, primarily sunny weather is forecast, and temperatures are expected to hit an estimated 80 degrees.

However, people should still check the latest forecast before going out.

The shift from potentially unsettled weather on Friday to dry conditions Saturday and mostly sunny weather Sunday is favorable for outdoor activities. Therefore, people who plan to be outside for extended periods should bring water, be sure to take sun safety measures, and check the weather report before leaving their houses.
